Left Movements in India UPSC
The terms “The Left” and “The Right” have long been used to outline ideological and political positions.
Their foundation dates lower back to the French Revolution of 1789, wherein supporters of the revolution sat on the left side of the Estates-General and conservatives on the right.
With the Industrial Revolution and the rise of socialism and communism, those terms won broader connotations.
